The Jostens Trophy is awarded to the outstanding NCAA Division III men’s and women’s basketball players who excel on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. This season marks the 26th presentation of the awards, with the inaugural trophies bestowed in 1998.
The Rotary Club of Salem is responsible for the initial review of the nominees, which is conducted over a two-week period. The Club’s Jostens Trophy Committee objectively reviews the nominees and uses a numerical system to pare down the pools to an initial list of 20 finalists - 10 for men’s basketball and 10 for women’s basketball.
The finalists will now be reviewed by the Jostens Trophy National Selection Committee, which is composed of men and women from across the nation. The committee features current and former athletic administrators and head coaches, past Jostens Trophy recipients, and select members of the Division III media. The committee will spend the next week-plus reviewing the nominees with the goal of announcing the two winners in the near future.
Lexow has produced another dynamite year for the Bison, acting as a key figure en route to the program’s first ever conference title. The United East Defensive Player of the Year, Lexow was a lockdown defender as her total steals and blocks rank in the top-15 in all of Division III. Her 94 steals currently rank 12th, picking the pocket of her opponents in all but one game this year. She dominated underneath the hoop as well, with her 65 blocks rankings 15th in the country. This season, the Abington, Pa. native has piled up 18 multi-block games.
Her talents weren’t just on the defensive side as she also ranked top-5 in the conference in both total points and total assists. Lexow averaged 14.9 points and 3.4 assists per game which helped spur a powerful Gallaudet offense.
This year, Lexow collected First Team All-Conference honors to match her Defensive Player of the Year nod. She was also tabbed the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week twice and the Offensive Player of the Week once.
Lexow becomes the second player in as many years to earn the Finalist recognition as she joins former teammate, Cassidy Perry, who earned the honor in 2024.
