United East Athletes of the Week - April 29, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for April 29, 2025.  Today will include Athletes of the Week will include Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field. 

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, April 21 through Sunday, April 27. A total of four student athletes were recognized for their performances. 

These are the final Athlete of the Week awards for the 2024-25 academic year as the conference championships will take place this weekend.

  • Women's Outdoor T&F Track Athlete of the Week

    Molly Wagner / GR / Carlow University / Pleasant Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson HS

    Wagner was part of both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that garnered first place at the USCAA National Championship Saturday. She placed first, second and third in the 400, 200 and 100, respectively to help Carlow to a third-place team finish.

    This is the fourth Athlete of the Week award for Wagner this outdoor season (4/8/25, 4/1/25, 3/25/25).

     

    Women's Outdoor T&F Field Athlete of the Week

    Sydney Taylor / So / Carlow University / Castle Shannon, Pa. / Keystone Oaks HS

    Taylor placed first in triple jump with a leap of 10.47 meters and landed a personal best 4.89 meters in long jump to place second in the event at the USCAA National Championship Saturday. She was also part of the first place 4x100 team.

    This is the first Athlete of the Week award for Taylor.

  • Men's Outdoor T&F Track Athlete of the Week

    Mel Cobbler / So / Carlow University / Silver Spring, Md. / Albert Einstein HS / Morgan State University

    Cobbler raced to third place in the 110-meter hurdles with a school record time of 16.17. He placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with the second-best time in school history of 1:00.34.

    This is the second Athlete of the Week award for Cobbler, who previously won for the week of 4/15/25.

     

    Men's Outdoor T&F Field Athlete of the Week

    Kyle Durkin / FY / Lancaster Bible College / Adelphia, Pa.  / Calvary Christian

    Durkin continues to improve in the javelin throw finishing first in the Elizabethtown Tune-Up Invite this past Saturday with a mark of 55.40. The throw was a new school record while sitting first in the conference and 60th in NCAA Division III. 

    This is the second Athlete of the Week award for Durkin, who previously won for the week of 4/15/24.
