Keystone Wins Second-Straight United East Baseball Title

LA PLUME, Pa. - For the second time in as many seasons, the Keystone College baseball team has earned the title of United East Champions, downing Penn State Harrisburg, 6-3, in the Championship Final. The conference title is also the 20th-straight conference title for the Giants.

Along with being tabbed the United East Champions, the Giants also earn the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championship. They will learn where they will be going and who they will play at noon on Monday.

No. 1 Keystone College def. No. 2 Penn State Harrisburg, 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

It would be the Lions to score the first run as a Lucas Floyd solo homer in the third made it 1-0. One inning later, the Giants answered back scoring four. Andy Rivas pushed two across with a single down the left field line and Hunter Rauch added another with an RBI single. Cooper Fesh accounted for the last run of the frame as he produced an RBI on a sac fly. The final two Giant runs came in the fifth as Andy Rivas, who’d be tabbed the Most Valuable Player, added another RBI as his sac fly allowed Chase Boyle to score. Griffin Yastremski made it 6-1 a moment later as he was able to reach home as Carlos Pascual was in a pickle between first and second.

Harrisburg made a slight comeback bid in the eighth as Andy Ruiz singled in a pair of runs but they were unable to add anymore after that.

Leam Powell collected a seventh win from the mound as he scattered just five hits across 7.0 innings of work. Dylan Byler then came in for the final two frames to seal the victory.
