The two finalists in last year’s United East Championship led off right where they finished as both squads found their way into the win column over the start of the season. The Seahawks have posted a 2-1-2 record so far, playing three nationally-ranked teams along the way. The team hosted a tournament on the opening weekend, taking down Neumann, 3-1, before tying No. 20 TCNJ later. The squad picked up a midweek shutout win over hood before collecting an impressive scoreless tie against No. 2 William Smith College.
Kyleigh Bland has played all but eight minutes between the pipes for the Seahawks, posting a pair of shutouts and racking up 28 saves (37th most in the country).
Penn State Harrisburg (3-1-1) began the year with two tough regionally-ranked opponents, posting a tie against Dickinson and a 1-0 loss against Mary Washington. The squad bounced right back to rattle off three straight wins, outscoring their foes 11-4 across that stretch.
Diana Pon has piled up five goals so far this season which tops the conference and ranks 10th in the nation.
St. Mary’s College returns to the pitch first as they hit the road for a contest against Stevenson University on Wednesday. Harrisburg will wait until Saturday for their next match, traveling to Franklin & Marshall for that.
