Smith Captures First-Ever NCAA All-America Honors for Seahawks

LA CROSSE, Wis. – St. Mary’s College of Maryland sophomore Rocksann Smith capped off a record-breaking season on Saturday by earning the first All-America honor in program history for the Seahawks women’s outdoor track & field team at the 2026 NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Competing at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Smith placed fourth in the javelin throw to secure First Team All-America recognition.

Smith entered the national championship meet seeded sixth after posting a then-school record throw of 44.20 meters at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships earlier this month. She surpassed that mark on the national stage, delivering a personal-best and new school-record toss of 44.45 meters to finish fourth in a field of 22 competitors.

The Baltimore, Maryland native became the program’s first NCAA qualifier this season and continued to rewrite the record books throughout her sophomore campaign.

In addition to her First Team All-America honor, Smith earned USTFCCCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region accolades in both the javelin throw and the 4x100 relay. She also captured United East Conference titles in the javelin and as part of the Seahawks’ 4x100 relay team.
