NEAC Announces 2015-16 Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Selections and Individual Award Winners

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2015-16 Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference selections, with first, second and third team honors being awarded by position to a total of 36 student-athletes, as selected by the conference coaches.

The NEAC has also announced its individual award winners, which were also selected by the conference coaches.

SUNY Polytechnic Institute junior Krysta Beha (Marcy, N.Y.) was named the NEAC Offensive Player of the Year following a fantastic all-around season for the Wildcats.  Beha led the Wildcats and was second in the conference in points at 76, with her 51 goals ranking as the third-most in the NEAC while her 25 assists tied for second as well.  She also ranked fourth in draw controls with 57, while also causing the fifth-most turnovers with 31 to go with 48 ground balls from the midfield position.  Beha also set several program records this season, including being the first player in Wildcat history to reach 100 career goals in addition to breaking the team’s single-season points record and setting the career record for draw controls.  Beha, who earned both a NEAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honor in separate weeks this season, was also selected to the NEAC All-Conference First Team.

Morrisville State College junior Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) was selected as the NEAC Defensive Player of the Year after an excellent season for the Mustangs.  Anderson was a force for the Mustangs from her low defender position on the field, as she caused a NEAC-most 41 turnovers in addition to picking up 40 ground balls through 16 contests.  Her average of 2.71 caused turnovers per game also ranks 24th across all of NCAA Division III.  Anderson caused at least four turnovers in six separate contests, while registering at least three ground balls in eight different games.   Her defensive effort helped the defending champion Mustangs finish 8-1 in conference play that helped lock up the second seed in this weekend’s NEAC Championship Tournament.  Anderson, who was a NEAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree this season, also placed on the NEAC All-Conference First Team.

Wells College freshman Mackenzie Maloney (Huntington Station, N.Y.) was chosen as the NEAC Rookie of the Year following a terrific inaugural season for the Express.  Maloney led all NEAC rookies in point scoring after recording 60 points on 50 goals and 10 assists, with her goal total also placing her tied for fourth overall in the conference while her 56 ground balls were also the fourth-most across the league.  Maloney recorded at least one goal in each of the first eight games of her career to begin the year and scored a season-high eight goals on two separate occasions en route to falling just four points shy of Wells’ program record for single-season point scoring by a first-year player.  A NEAC Offensive Player of the Week selection, Maloney also landed on the All-Conference First Team.

SUNY Polytechnic Institute head coach Erin Schurr was selected by her peers as the NEAC Coach of Year following an excellent season guiding the Wildcats.  Schurr led SUNY Poly to a program-record 11 wins with just three losses this season, while going 8-1 in NEAC play to secure a playoff spot in this weekend’s NEAC Championship Tournament.  Schurr’s squad led the conference in points, assists and shot percentage offensively and also topped the NEAC in goals against, goals-against average and caused turnovers on the defensive side of the field.  Schurr also saw six players land on the All-Conference Team.
