GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2018 Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Team with 37 student-athletes receiving first, second and third team honors. Four individuals were also honored by the NEAC with annual awards that are selected in a vote by the conference coaches.

The NEAC Offensive Player of the Year award goes to Morrisville State College’s Gianna Branca (Camillus, N.Y.) as the leader of the Mustangs’ high-powered offense. The senior attacker has scored 60 goals and 54 assists for 114 points in 17 games to become just the second player in Morrisville State history to score 100 or more points in a season. Her 114 points are a Mustangs’ single-season record and currently rank fifth among all Division III players. Branca also ranks fifth in Division III in assists, seventh in assists per game and 10^th in points per game. She hit double-digits in scoring in two games this year, including a 16-point game against Lancaster Bible. Branca currently leads the NEAC in points, goals and assists while ranking second in free position goals scored. In addition to her offensive numbers, Branca enters the postseason with 27 ground balls, 44 draw controls and 20 caused turnovers.

Thelma Outlaw (Middletown, N.Y.) from Medaille College has been selected as the NEAC Defensive Player of the Year after making an immediate impact in just her first season. The Mavericks’ rookie defender leads the league with 56 caused turnovers and ranks second with 69 ground balls. She has recorded 39 caused turnovers and scooped up 46 ground balls against NEAC opponents to rank first in both categories in conference play. Earlier this season, Outlaw picked up a career-high 13 ground balls and had 11 caused turnovers against Lancaster Bible to earn NEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. In 16 games thus far, she also has 60 draw controls, eight goals and one assist. Outlaw is one of two Medaille players to each a spot on the NEAC All-Conference First Team.

Bryn Athyn College’s Bri Lennox (Turnersville, N.J.) has been named the NEAC Rookie of the Year as an instrumental piece to the Lions’ success this season. Lennox, a freshman attacker, leads her team with 66 points and holds program records with 58 goals and 66 draw controls. She has scored 14 free position goals, picked up 34 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers in 12 games played. Lennox has also set new single-game marks for the Lions in points (10), goals (9), and draw controls (14). In conference games, Lennox ranks second with 41 goals and fifth with 44 points. Most recently, Lennox scored nine goals in the NEAC First Round game against Wells College to propel the Lions to a spot in the NEAC Final Four.

Medaille College head coach Russell Allen has been voted by his peers as the NEAC Coach of the Year for the first team in his career after leading the Mavericks to the No. 2 seed in the NEAC Tournament. In his fourth year at the helm, Allen’s squad finished the regular season with an 8-1 conference record and will enter the postseason at 13-3 overall. The Mavericks rank first in the NEAC with 266 goals, 485 ground balls and 248 caused turnovers. As a result of the team’s success in 2018, Medaille College landed seven players on the NEAC All-Conference Team.
