LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has announced its Women’s Tennis All-Conference Teams for the 2021-22 season. All-Conference consists of a First and Second Team made up of six singles players and three doubles pairs. The conference has also handed out its major awards including Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year which are as follows:
Player of the Year - Diana Levit (St. Mary's College of Maryland)
Rookie of the Year - Diana Levit (St. Mary's College of Maryland)
Coach of the Year - Greg Shedd (St. Mary's College of Maryland)
Levit took the courts by storm in her first year as a collegiate tennis player, earning both Rookie of the Year honors and Player of the Year honors. The Rockville, Md. native was the Seahawks top singles player, picking up six wins from the first slot. Five of those wins came against United East opponents, where she never gave up a single set. Levit got work done in doubles too, pairing up with Second Team All-Conference member, Hannah Gorel, at first doubles for seven wins on the year. The twosome finished the season a perfect 5-0 in conference action from that flight, never allowing an opponent to win more than four games.
In their first season as United East members, Coach Shedd led St. Mary’s College to an undefeated conference record of 5-0. In conference play, Shedd guided his squad to two 9-0 victories while surrendering just a single match in the other three tilts. The squad bolstered a tough non-conference schedule too, finishing the year with a record of 8-7. Shedd also picked up 9-0 wins against Anges Scott and Hood.
