Seahawks & Wildcats to Clash in Women's Tennis Championship Final

LATHAM, N.Y. - Top seeded St. Mary's College of Maryland and third-seeded Penn College will meet in the Final of the United East Women’s Tennis Championship as they both collected sweeping wins in the semifinals on Tuesday afternoon. The Seahawks upended No. 5 Lancaster Bible, 4-0, for the second consecutive season while the Wildcats upset No. 2 Penn State Harrisburg. 

The two teams will now meet on Sunday to determine the United East Champion. That match will take place at 1:30 PM at the Hempfield RecCenter.

No. 1 St. Mary’s College of Maryland def. No. 5 Lancaster Bible College, 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

Lily Ganjbaksh and Addyson Harden got the match started with a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles and Sarah Levit and Lily Spedden earned a 6-1 victory at No. 2 to give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead at the conclusion of doubles action. 

Ganjbaksh gave the Seahawks a 2-0 advantage with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Hartmann at the No. 1 spot and Levit contributed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Weist at the No. 2 position to move the Seahawks one point closer to the win. Lauren Lovejoy clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Ochs at No. 4 singles

No. 3 Penn College def. No. 2 Penn State Harrisburg, 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

The Wildcats gained a 1-0 advantage as Leah Vest and Kiera Wene started off with a 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position before Lauren Peck and Faith Murray closed out doubles action with a 6-1 victory at the top spot.

Vest kept her momentum going to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 4. Cierra Miller posted a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6 before Faith Murray earned the deciding point with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the third flight.
