Chargers, Wildcats Advance to Semifinals

LATHAM, N.Y. -  The 2026 United East Women's Tennis Championship First Round is now complete with #5 Lancaster Bible and #3 Penn College both advancing the the United East Semifinals.

The Chargers will travel to face #1 St. Mary's College of Maryland on Tuesday, April 28. The Wildcats will also be in action on April 28 when they take on #2 Penn State Harrisburg. 

#5 Lancaster Bible College def. #4 Carin University, 4-3 (BOX SCORE)
The Highlander got off to a strong start, winning the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches to secure the first team point of the match.  Reagan Griffith and Madison Searls shined in doubles play earning a 6-4 victory in the No. 1 doubles match. 

The Chargers responded in singles play with Becky Dimov and Katelyn Riederich winning the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches, leveling the team score at two apiece. Cairn's Hajin Seo picked up a 6-4, 6-0 victory in the No. 4 singles match, putting the Highlander on the brink of victory. LBC would not be denied, with Jania Weist tying the match by winning the No. 2 singles match 6-3, 6-3. The match came down the No. 3 singles showdown where the Chargers' Natalie Hoover earned a hard fought 6-4, 6-1 victory, securing the victory for Lancaster Bible College. 

#3 Penn College def. #7 Penn State Brandywine, 4-1 (BOX SCORE)
The Lions and Wildcats traded 6-1 scores as the Wildcats picked up a win at No. 1 doubles and the Lions claimed the No. 2 doubles position win before Penn College' Cierra Miller and Kiera Wene claimed the team doubles point with a 6-3 win.

Samma Zahran won, 6-1, 6-2 at the No.1 singles slot to pull the Lions even in the match. Penn College took the next three singles matches to earn the match win. Faith Murray won, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, Leah Vest was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 3 and Wene wone 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4.
