Seahawks Claim Women's Tennis Title

LANDISVILLE, Pa. -- Top-seeded St. Mary's College of Maryland climbed the mountain after a runner-up finish in 2025, to claim to 2026 United East Women's Tennis Championship by defeating No. 3 Penn College, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at the Hempfield RecCenter. 

With the win, the Seahawks claimed their third conference championship in five seasons and also receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The selection show revealing the NCAA bracket will be on Monday, May 4 at noon. First Round matches will be played on Thursday and Friday, May 7-8.

St. Mary's dominated championship afternoon as they dropped just seven games. Sarah Levit and Lily Spedden started the afternoon off with a 6-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles while Lauren Lovejoy and Stella Manns posted a 6-1 score at No. 3 doubles to lock up the opening point for the seahawks. 

In singles action, tournament MVP Lily Ganjbaksh made quick work at the No. 1 slot to defeat Ellen Buckley, 6-0, 6-0. Manns posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles and Levit captured the championship point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory on Court 2.
