Major Award Winners
Player of the Year - Reagan Griffith (Cairn University)
Rookie of the Year - Reagan Griffith (Cairn University)
Coach of the Year - Gregg Fanus (Cairn University)
Reagan Griffith (FY / Doylestown, Pa.) from Cairn University has been named the 2024 United East Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year - Skye Division after leading the Highlanders to an undefeated season in league play. This is the fourth consecutive year that a Cairn women’s tennis student-athlete has won Player of the Year as Griffith follows Paige Kemper (2021-2023) with top honors individually.
Griffith stepped on to campus and had an immediate impact on the Highlanders squad, playing #1 singles and #1 doubles with partner Ersy Neal all season. In league play, Griffith went a perfect 8-0 in all league matches, singles and doubles. On the singles court, Griffith only dropped two games across the four matches in divisional play and, on the season, was only defeated by Volt Division Player and Rookie of the Year Allison Wootton from Penn State Harrisburg and fellow Volt Division First Team honoree Laurie Flemming from Penn State Abington in cross-divisional non-conference play. On the doubles court, Griffith and Neal partnered to only drop four games over the four matches in divisional league play.
After spending the past couple of seasons as an assistant coach, Cairn University Head Coach Gregg Fanus stepped into the Head Coaching role this season and has earned the 2024 United East Coach of the Year - Skye Division award. Fanus guided the women’s program to an undefeated Skye Division record and #1 seed in the tournament as well as the Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and six separate individuals earning All-Conference status.
