Cairn & Harrisburg to Meet in United East Women's Tennis Championship

LATHAM, N.Y. - The 2024 United East Women’s Tennis Championship participants are set after Divisional finals occurred on Saturday afternoon.  Cairn University used a 5-0 victory over Notre Dame of Maryland and Penn State Harrisburg won in the Volt Division final. 

In the Skye Division, Cairn ran out to a 3-0 lead after doubles and didn’t look back, advancing with a 5-0 sweep over the Gators of Notre Dame.  Reagan Griffith swept the #1 singles court 6-0, 6-0 and Ersy Neal won at #2 singles 6-0, 6-2 to claim the 5-0 week for the Highlanders.

Penn State Harrisburg won 5-0 over St. Mary’s College of Maryland in the Volt Division Finals.  Harrisburg finished the doubles portion up 3-0 and moved into singles needing only two points to finish the match.  Olivia Bandini defeated Amber Manspeaker 6-1, 6-4 and Sophia Bandini defeated Giselle Harris 6-1, 6-0 to seal the victory for the Nittany Lions. 

Earlier this season, Cairn and Penn State Harrisburg met in a non-conference matchup on April 21 with the Nittany Lions prevailing 9-0.  The two teams meet on Saturday, May 4 at the Hershey Racquet Club in Hershey, Pa to decide the United East Women’s Tennis Championship.  The winner of the match will be named United East Champion and awarded the Automatic Qualifier to the 2024 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Tournament.
