Seahawks Raise Third-Straight Women's Lax Trophy

ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. - The St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s lacrosse team took down Wilson College, 20-4, Saturday evening in the United East Women’s Lacrosse Championship Final. The win marks the team’s third-straight conference title for the Seahawks and the team will represent United East in the 2024 NCAA DIII Championship.

The Seahawks dominated the first half, holding the Phoenix scoreless while piling in 14 goals of their own. The home team added three more in the third before Wilson was able to score one with 7:10 left in the stanza. The deficit was too large though as the Seahawks continued to expand it, leading to a St. Mary’s victory.

Eleven St. Mary’s College players registered a point on the day including nine from Hailey Betch who scored four and assisted on five others. Katelin Scala pitched in five (4G, 1 A) while Bella Dunigan and MC Mortimer each had three goals and one dime.

Claire Boudreau helped spur the Seahawk offense, winning a team-high seven draws. Rachael Freeman was the defensive anchor, causing a pair of turnovers and picking up four ground balls.
