Women's Tennis 5/9/2024 1:30:00 PM Penn State Harrisburg Concludes Season at NCAA Tournament PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg fell to Transylvania University (Lexington, Ky.) 5-3 in the opening round of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament on Thursday morning on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University. Making the second appearance in program history, the Nittany Lions got off to a fast start with the doubles team of Olivia Bandini and Sophia Bandini winning 8-3 at #2 doubles in just 40 minutes. However, Transylvania would take the other two doubles sets and move into singles play up 2-1 in the match. Moving to the six singles matches, Olivia Bandini got the momentum back for Harrisburg with a 6-1, 6-0 win at #2 singles to tie the match at 2-2 and Sophia Bandini finished right behind with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #4 singles to give Harrisburg the lead 3-2 with four matches remaining. However, Transylvania finished off three matches in 20 minutes at #4 singles, #1 singles, and #6 singles to clinch the match for the Pioneers. Harrisburg finished the season 15-7 (5-0 United East) and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2021.
