United East Athletes of the Week - April 21, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for April 21, 2025.  Today will include Players of the Week for men’s and women's lacrosse, baseball and softball.

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, April 14 through Sunday, April 20, 2025. A total of eight student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Kaelyn Goff / SO / Wilson College / Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key

    Goff played a major role in helping the Phoenix pick up two conference victories as well as wrap up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming United East Championship. In the midweek bout against Bryn Athyn, the netminder racked up 15 saves to help pick up a key overtime win. Ten of those saves came in the second half and one was recorded in the extra stanza. She then picked up another double-digit save win as she stopped 10 Cedar Crest shots over the weekend.

    This is the first Defensive Player of the Week in Goff's career.

     

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Sage Lague / SR / Wilson College  / FairPlay, Md. / Goretti

    Lague was a key piece of the Wilson offense as the team picked up a pair of United East victories on the week. The senior started the week with a three goal, one assist performance in the overtime win over Bryn Athyn. Her goal with just over two minutes left knotted up the game and helped push it into extra time. She then doubled her goal output in Saturday's win over Cedar Crest as she notched six goals. Lague also colelcted seven draw controls and a groundball on the week.

    This is Lague's first Player of the Week award this season and fourth of her career (04/22/24 | 03/25/24 | 03/18/24)

  • Player of the Week

    Jake Fallers / SR / Penn State Abington / Wilmington, Del. / Archmere Academy

    In a 2-1 week for the Nittany Lions, Fallers had a career performance as he went 8-for-14 at the plate (.571) to go along with eight hits, 10 RBI, nine runs, two walks and most impressively, five of his eight hits were home runs.  He highlighted the week with a three home run game in the opener at Lancaster Bible where he went 3-for-4 with five RBI and four runs scored. His three home runs were one shy of the program's single game record held by Ryan McCarty who hit four against Gallaudet in 2022.  Fallers also homered in game two and prior against Mount Saint Vincent. Fallers currently leads the United East with 12 home runs. 

    This is the second Player of the Week award for Fallers of his career (04/07/25)

    Pitcher of the Week

    Aaron Zapata / SO / University of Valley Forge  /  Colton, Calif. / Grand Terrace

    Zapata had a monster week on the bump, factoring into all three of the Patriot wins. In the Thursday win over Penn State Brandywine, Zapata got the start and win as he allowed just three hits and no earned runs through 6.1 innings of work. The sophomore then came out of the bullpen in both games of the doubleheader against Notre Dame of Maryland on Saturday, picking up two saves in the process. He'd toss 2.0 innings across both appearances, allowing just one hit. Zapata finished the week with a 0.00 ERA and six punch outs over 8.1 innings of work

    This is the first Pitcher of the Week award for Zapata of his career.

  • Player of the Week

    Josilynn Garcia / SO / Saint Elizabeth University / Northridge, Calif. / John Marshall

    Garcia was a force for the Eagles this past week, starting in all 6 games for the Eagles, going 15 for 25. She'd end with multiple hits in every game played, with 7 doubles, 12 RBIs, 5 runs scored, and 22 total bases. She'd finish slashing .600/.880/.615 on the week, helping her squad to a 4-2 record.

    his is the second Pitcher of the Week award for Garcia this season (03/03/25)

    Pitcher of the Week

    Isabella Hurta / SO / Penn State Brandywine / Colts Neck, N.J. / Red Bank Catholic

    Isabella Hurta went 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA and eight strikeouts in conference wins over Wilson and Penn State Abington last week. She limited Wilson to one run on three hits in a complete-game effort on Wednesday. On Saturday, Hurta pitched the final 6.1 innings in relief against Penn State Abington, holding Abington to one run and four hits in a comeback win for Brandywine.

    This is the second Pitcher of the Week award for Hurta this season (03/31/25)

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Antonio Santora / FY / Penn College / Haskell, N.J. / Lakeland Regional

    Santora set the offensive tone for the Wildcats in two road victories at Westminster and Cairn on the week. The freshman faceoff specialist won 24-of-27 faceoffs including a perfect 9-for-9 and a goal against the Highlanders. Santora won 15-of-18 attempts in a 10-9 victory against the Titans and finished the week with 19 ground balls.

    This is the first Player of the Week award in Santora's career.

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Ty Grove / SO / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Finksburg, Md. / St. John's Catholic Prep

    Ty Grove posted a 10.02 goals against average and a .583 save percentage in a 1-1 week for the Seahawks. Grove started the week with a career-best 20 saves and one ground ball in a 15-7 road loss to No. 2 Salisbury. He then made just one save in the first 30 minutes of a 21-1 road win over Bryn Athyn.

    This is Grove's first Player of the Week award of his career.
